A Cultural Transformation is Needed

Why a Cultural Transformation?

A "cultural transformation" is needed to establish a fertile context for innovation and breakthrough. Just as water is essential to sustain life for a fish, an innovation-friendly organizational mindset is essential to sustain innovation and breakthrough. This is a mindset that is not the norm in most organizations. It requires a deliberate commitment and effort to be introduced and sustained.  This is not a simple matter of just "doing" something new.

For instance, instilling a culture of innovation and breakthrough in a "rational and logical" cultural evironment requires a a lot more than just telling people to think outside their paradigm!  It will require a mindset and a "way of being" that have to be learned.  Innovation thinking and actions require training, and consistant reinforcement through coaching and role modeling, until they become the way we do things here.  For most organizations this is a "cultural transformation", one that will add a whole new dimension to the possibilities for the future of the organization.

What is a Transformation?

Here are some key characteristics of a transformation:
  • By transformation, we mean a change that is not merely an extension or improvement over the past, but a state change that can be personal and organizational.
  • Achieving this state change requires altering and expanding the limiting mindset in which the individual/the organization operates.
    • This  mindset includes the attitudes, perspectives, rationales and logic;  how they perceive their problems and opportunities, and the bandwidth of solutions they consider to deal with them.
